Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Also called major depressive disorder or clinical depression, it affects how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems. You may have trouble doing normal day-to-day activities, and sometimes you may feel as if everything is "too much". Depression is not something one can "snap out" of. Depression may require long-term treatment. But don't get discouraged; depression can be managed, and with the right support system, it can get better.
What Is Anxiety?
Anxiety is your body's response to real or imagined stressors. The duration or severity of an anxious feeling can sometimes be out of proportion to the original trigger, or stressor. Physical symptoms, such as increased blood pressure and nausea, may also develop. Anxiety can lead to avoiding everyday tasks, increased irritability, lack of concentration and sleep.
